Vapes contain lithium batteries, so they must not go in any bin. Shops that sell vapes have to take them back, and tips have collection points.
Also possible: Household waste recycling centre (the tip).
Common mistakes
Vapes in bins and recycling cause fires. The sale of single-use vapes has been banned across the UK since 1 June 2025.
Does every council do this?
