Year planner
How to fill it in
- Find your council with the postcode lookup and open its bin day checker.
- For each bin, copy the next collection date and choose how often it is emptied. Fortnightly bins on the same day usually alternate, so give each one its own next date.
- Download the calendar file and open it on your phone. Print the year planner for the kitchen if you like.

Bin calendar questions
Is the bin calendar free?
Yes. There is no app, no account and no email address needed. Your settings stay in your own browser.
How do I add the reminders to my phone?
Press "Download calendar file". On an iPhone, open the file and tap Add All. On Android, open it with Google Calendar or your phone's calendar app. On a computer, open it with Outlook, Apple Calendar or import it into Google Calendar. Each bin day gets its own event with a reminder.
Where do I get my dates from?
From your council's bin day checker. Enter one upcoming date for each bin and how often it is collected, and the calendar works out the rest of the year.
What about bank holidays?
Bank holiday weeks are marked using the official GOV.UK dates for your part of the UK. You can also choose to move collections a day later after a bank holiday, which is what many councils do. Always check your council's own plan for Christmas.
My council changed my rota. What now?
Open this page again on the same device, change the dates or frequency, and download a new calendar file. Delete the old events from your calendar first.
